Trees are used and represented in the Tygron Platform the in the following ways:
- Trees are generally represented by Buildings, with a Tree Function.
- The MultiPolygon stored in a Section of an individual Tree is the tree trunk, not the tree foliage.
- The MultiPolygon stored in a Section of a part of a forest is the region where potentially tree trunks are located.
- The height of trees is calculated using the difference between the DTM and the DSM during the New Project Wizard phase.
- The height of trees is stored in the FLOOR_HEIGHT_M attribute, in amounts of meters.

Foliage
The Heat Stress Overlay (and Shadow Overlay) use Foliage of trees as input, either as:
- Buildings with Tree Functions, calculating the foliage using the Foliage crown factor (Heat Stress Overlay)
- Foliage areas (Heat Stress Overlay)
- Foliage height prequel (Heat Stress Overlay)
Foliage can be detected using an Inference Overlay using the Foliage (Neural Network).
Notes
- The FLOOR_HEIGHT_M also affects how tall the tree is in the 3D Visualization.
