Trees are used and represented in the Tygron Platform the in the following ways:
- Trees are generally represented by Buildings, with a Tree Function.
- The MultiPolygon stored in a Section of an individual Tree is the tree trunk, not the tree foliage.
- The MultiPolygon stored in a Section of a part of a forest is the region where potentially tree trunks are located.
- The height of trees is calculated using the difference between the DTM and the DSM during the New Project Wizard phase.
- The height of trees is stored in the FLOOR_HEIGHT_M attribute, in amounts of meters.
Functions
The following functions for trees and forests exist:
| Name | ID | Category | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Birch | 953 | NATURE | The birch tree (genus: Betula) is a deciduous tree. A common birch is the Silver Birch |
| Default deciduous trees | 440 | NATURE | Deciduous trees used to increase the amount of greenery within an area |
| Default pine trees | 888 | NATURE | Pine trees increase the amount of greenery |
| Italian Poplar | 954 | NATURE | The Italian Poplar (species: Populus Nigra 'Italica') is a deciduous tree |
| Larch | 951 | NATURE | The larch (genus: Larix) is a deciduous tree. The European Larch is a common larch tree |
| Mangrove forest | 753 | NATURE | Coastal ecosystem characterized by salt-tolerant mangrove trees providing shoreline protection and biodiversity habitats |
| Oak | 950 | NATURE | Oak trees (genus: Quercus) are deciduous trees. The European oak is a common oak tree species |
| Palm trees | 937 | NATURE | Palm trees increase the amount of greenery |
| Willow | 952 | NATURE | The willow (genus: Salix) is a deciduous tree. A common willow tree is the white willow |
| Wooded bank | 963 | NATURE | A linear planting of trees and shrubs serving as a natural boundary or windbreak |
Overlays
Tree (building)s and their properties are used in various overlays:
Foliage
The Heat Stress Overlay (and Shadow Overlay) use Foliage of trees as input, either as:
- Buildings with TreeFunctions, calculating the foliage using the [[Foliage crown factor (Heat Stress Overlay)
- Foliage areas (Heat Stress Overlay)
- Foliage height prequel (Heat Stress Overlay)
Foliage can be detected using an Inference Overlay using the Foliage (Neural Network).
Notes
- The FLOOR_HEIGHT_M also affects how tall the tree is in the 3D Visualization.
- Roots of trees can be seen in the Underground visualization
How-to's
- How to import trees based on an Inference Overlay
- How to detect foliage using an Inference Overlay
- How to improve the estimated foliage overlay
- How to modify evaporation factor from trees to forests
- How to compute residential walls with sight of trees
- How to disable Tree placements from default Sources on Project creation
- Trees and foliage tutorial
