When working with the full groundwater model of the Water Overlay, ground bottom flow from deeper ground layers through the bottom boundary may present a significant factor in the ground water balance. However, especially over longer times, the effects of external bottom flow can vary. For these situations, it is possible to introduce a time-dependant variation to ground bottom pressure.
For bottom flow to be functional, the following should be prepared beforehand:
- The Bottom pressure and Bottom resistance overlays based on GeoTIFFs.
- A csv with a start-time time sequence for the ground bottom pressure, in meters.
Editor → Current Situation (Ribbon tab) → Overlays (Ribbon bar) → Water Overlay (Left panel) → Configuration Wizard (Right panel) → Bottom boundary
How to configure variable bottom boundary flow:
- Open the Water Overlay Wizard, and proceed to the bottom boundary step.
- Opt to configure bottom head pressure and resistance.
- For the pressure GeoTIFF, import your GeoTIFF Overlay with head pressure values.
- Ensure the uploaded GeoTIFF is selected in the dropdown.
- For the resistance GeoTIFF, import your GeoTIFF Overlay with resistance values.
- Ensure the uploaded GeoTIFF is selected in the dropdown.
- Set the Global pressure to "dynamic", and opt to select a csv.
- Import the prepared csv.
- Close the import window.
- Close the configuration wizard, and recalculate the Overlay.
