Sustainability (Indicator)
The climate adaptation indicator calculates a score based on whether there is heat stress and if there is enough green space and water storage in a neighborhood. The 'cool enough' status is based on the [[Heat_Stress_Overlay|Heat stress Overlay]], while green space and water storage are determined by their ratio to the total area.<br> This indicator is useful for projects in which (for example):

What is the sustainability indicator?

The sustainability calculates if an area is cool enough, green enough and if there is enough water storage available. If its cool enough is based on the [[Heat_(Overlay)|Heat stress Overlay]]. If there is enough green or water storage is based on the amount of m² green or water storage per m² total. This indicator is useful for projects in which (for example):

The indicator panel (see the image on the right) shows in a table per neighborhood:
Whether a neighborhood is cool enough is determined by the ratio of areas with an average temperature deviation of +0.5 degrees to the total built environment size. Greenery is calculated by comparing the area of green space ([[Terrain|terrain]] types: grassland, open land, and dunes) to the total land area. A neighborhood requires 20% green space to achieve a greenery score of 100%. This percentage can be changed in the Excel file of the indicator. Whether the neighborhood has enough water storage is calculated by comparing the amount of m² water terrain (such as Waterbody and Waterway) to the amount of m² total land. An area requires 30% water terrain to achieve a water storage score of 100%. This percentage can also be changed in the Excel file.

If a neighborhood has enough green is calculated by comparing the amount of m² green (grassland, open land and dunes) to the amount of m² total land. If the neighborhood has enough water storage is calculated by comparing the amount of m² terrain with water storage to the amount of m² total land.
The score is represented as a progress bar, with a scale from 0 to 100%. This is the average score for coolness, greenery, and water storage. Determine if you want to calculate the [[Indicator#Score|absolute or relative score]]. The higher the score, the more climate adaptive the neighborhoods in the project are.

1. Select in the editor 'Geo Data' from the ribbon

2. Select 'Overlays' from the ribbon bar
|Hover over the [[Calculation Cloud]] button and choose ''Update'' to update your project.
3. Select the Heat stress overlay from the drop down menu
