SLPK files defining 3D features can be imported so that the same 3D models can be visualized in the 3D Visualization of a Project. This will not only look more realistic, but the shapes will also be integrated into the DSM allowing for more accurate calculations for themes like water flow or shade.

3D models imported through this process can be either applied to existing Buildings (replacing their generated 3D shapes by the more detailed 3D models), or new Buildings can be generated which are visualized by the 3D models.

How to import an ArcGIS SLPK file:
  1. Open the Geo data wizard
  2. As Import type, choose either Buildings or Measures
  3. Choose as import method the I3S SLPK file option
  4. In the next step, either choose the height defined in the model (datum height) or place the models on top of the terrain.
  5. After selecting the file, continue to step 4
  6. In step 4, choose one of the following options:
The first option to create a new building with the uploaded model (in the next steps you can choose a Function for the new building).
The second option to replace the model of an existing building with the new model and create a new building if none is present.
The third option to only replace the model of an existing building with the new model. The Function and attributes will be kept; only the geometry is updated. If you have chosen this last option, you can finish the wizard.
  7. If you have chosen to create a new building, choose a name, function and stakeholders and then finish the wizard.
  8. Depending on the type you have chosen at the start of the Geo Data Wizard, the building is directly placed in the Tygron Platform project or a new Measure is created.

Notes

  • When the SLPK model contains no textures, the 3D model will be plain white
  • Currently, Wrap mode: repeat is not supported in atlas textures
  • Only textures in JPEG format are supported
