When the terrain height brush is used in selection mode, modifications to the elevation model are made in 2 explicit steps.
How to modify the elevation model in selection mode:
- Set the terrain height brush to "Selection" style.
- Set the brush type (next to "selection") to the desired brush type, and set the size for drawing the selection as desired.
- Draw a selection in the 3D world.
- Set the desired angle as desired.
- Set the desired height as desired. (Take note of the "average height at selection" for some insight into appropriate height values)
- Ensure that the height setting is set to either "Absolute" or "Relative", as desired.
- Select "Apply Selection". The 3D world's elevation model will now appear modified. Note that the project data has not been affected yet.
- Create more modifications as desired
- When all desired modifications have been created and are deemed appropriate, select "Apply Changes"
- The project's elevation model will now be modified with the modifications you have made.
