The Water Module in the Tygron Platform is intended to simulate the movement of (liquid) water in a project area, and the impact of this movement. Simulations can be performed on, among others (see Use cases):
- Flooding
- Stress testing for excessive rainfall
- Water quality
The Water Module is based on established theory and is validated using (combinations of) several existing benchmarks.
The Water Module is implemented as different grid based water overlays, where each overlay is tuned for specific analyses, insights, use cases and results. This means that each of these overlays is based on the same theory and calculation method, however they are customized to conveniently provide insight in different aspects of the Water Module. The three different water overlays are:
Rainfall Overlay | provides insight into the water stress and impact caused by (excessive) rainfall
Flooding Overlay | provides insight into water stress and impact caused by breaches in levees or other sources causing excessive water inflow
Groundwater Overlay | provides insight into long-term processes of water flow both on the surface and underground |
