After reading this page:

  • you've learned what a planning project is.
  • you've learned what a timeline project is.
  • you've learned how to adjust your project from planning to timeline.

What types of projects can be created in the Tygron Platform?

Projects in the Tygron Platform can handle a simulation in two ways. This leads to two kinds of projects and therefor two kinds of Project Sessions:

  • Planning project and planning sessions
  • Timeline project and timeline sessions

New projects are by default planning projects. The important difference between these two is the way the simulation is handled.

By including time into the perspective, the dynamic of the session changes compared to planning session. For example, stakeholders can run out of money. Planned constructions can enter long periods of delay due to postponed or denied permits. Furthermore, scenarios can be included in the project and applied over time to have stakeholders learn to adapt to a new situation and change their strategy to accomplish their goals.

Planning sessions

The topbar in the editor, duration time and display modus.
In planning sessions, the focus lies on spatial design, to improve the situation of an area compared to the original situation. Next to the stakeholdername in the topbar you can see the duration time of the session expressed in actual hours and minutes that the session is running. Alterations to the area are done in the Planned View. The Original View contains the area in a state as it was at the beginning of the session. Stakeholders are able to revert and redesign the area from their perspective at will. Stakeholders are free to undo their actions and change their plans.

Timeline sessions

The topbar in the editor, duration time and display modus.
In timeline sessions, the focus lies on the process of spatial design over time. Next to the stakeholdername in the topbar you can see the duration time of the session expressed in a simulated date. Actions are planned in the Model View. Once the construction date is set and permits are granted, the action is implemented in the Today View. This includes the actual construction or demolition of buildings and implementation of measures. Take as an example buildings. Once constructed, buildings cannot be reverted, only demolished for additional costs.

How to adjust the type of project

Editor → Multi Stakeholder (Ribbon tab) → Timeline (Ribbon bar)

In the editor, you can adjust the type of project form planning to timeline or the other way around.

When you adjust the simulation type you can also set some other features like the starting point of the simulated time in case you select a timeline project. Notice that the type of project affects the way a indicator works, based in the current or marquette state it uses in a query. Also measures can be affected based on the type of simulation you choose. This will effect if it is possible to reverse a measure. Therefor we advise to always select the type of simulation at the beginning of building your project. If you change this later on, it is possible you need to adjust your indicator(s) and/ or measure(s) as well.

How to adjust the type of project:

  1. Select "Storyline" in the ribbon header.
  2. Select "Timeline" in the ribbon bar.
  3. Select the simulation type you want in the upper left dropdown menu.
