System Specifications

Tygron products utilize gaming technology as their driving force, most notably the 3D visualization. This technology does mean a computer must meet certain requirements to be able to run Tygron products. Your hardware is automatically categorized into the following scores. The total score of your computer is based on the lowest scoring component, and will affect both the default graphical settings and the ability to load in larger project areas.

CPU (Processor) Memory (RAM) GPU (Videocard)* Recommended system Notes on score
LOW Celeron At least 4GB RAM Benchmark score below 1000
with OpenGL 4.0, GLSL 400
Systems with this score are not fully supported. Graphical issues and slow responses can be expected.
MEDIUM AMD Athlon
Core 2
Pentium
At least 4GB RAM Benchmark score above 1000 This is the minimum recommended score.
HIGH i3, i5 At least 8GB RAM Benchmark score above 1500+ HP Omen 15-ax-025nd
This model is currently in active use at Tygron.
For creating and opening projects with a map greater than 5x5km, at least HIGH is required.
EXTREME i7 At least 16GB RAM Benchmark score above 5000 HP Omen Desktop 870-242nd
This model is currently in active use at Tygron.
EXTREME+ i9 or Xeon processor 32GB RAM Benchmark score above 5000 [1]
This model is currently in active use at Tygron.
For creating and opening projects with a map equal to or greater than 30x30km, at least extreme+ is required.
* We have found that NVIDIA cards provide the best stability in comparison to Intel and AMD. Therefore, we can strongly advise NVIDIA Geforce GT950 for desktop computers and NVIDIA Geforce GT950M for laptops (or better). We recommend looking for cards in the high-end consumer segment (GeForce), as the Tygron Platform does not make use of the extreme-precision capabilities of the more expensive Quadro cards.

In addition, your computer must have the following:

Screen resolution 1280 x 800 pixels or higher
Operating system Windows 7, 8, 10 (64 bit)
Internet connection ** Required
** There are no specific requirements to the internet connection. It is however advisable to test the available connection when preparing for a session.

Virtualization

Virtual environments are currently not supported. The Tygron Platform creates 3D visuals as part of its basic function. To properly render a 3D environment as performant as possible, the software requires being run on a physical computer. Virtualization software (such as Citrix or VMware) are currently not supported, because the speed of 3D rendering is significantly reduced by virtualization, which abstracts direct access to the GPU, slowing the process of rendering the 3D environment.

Software Guide

In addition to hardware requirements, the following software is also required.

Video card Drivers

Please make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your video card from the original manufacturer. Below a list of video card driver download locations:

Explanation on the hardware

Because the Tygron Platform is 3D visualization software, the various requirements list above must all be met. A brief clarification of why each requirement is relevant:

CPU

The processor is the general "computing" part of a computer, performing most functions of a computer. General responsiveness of the application and the computer itself are dictated by the processor.

RAM

The memory of a computer is what allows it to actively work with data. The more memory a computer has, the more data it can keep at the ready simultaneously.

GPU

Often in the form of a videocard, the graphical processor deals with all visualization matters. This component makes the 3D visualization of the Tygron Platform possible.

Screen resolution

The Tygron Platform is a complex tool, and require sufficient screen space to allow an overview of all options and information panels.

Internet connection

The core technology of the Tygron Platform is cloud-based. Your computer needs to be able to visualize the application and keep data about the project available, but the really heavy lifting in terms of calculations is done in the cloud. This means you need to be connected to the internet, and the better your internet connection the more responsive the application will be when dealing with data updates.
