Urban areas can be created using parametric design. Especially broad and general features can easily be created, with details added manually.
How to create an urban area using parametric design:
- Determine the area where an urban area is to be created.
- Manually create the network of roads for the urban environment as Buildings in the 3D world.
- Create a parametric design, configured with the Function most prevalent in the urban area.
- Draw the extent of the design over the desired area.
- Use the "road aligned" design type.
- Verify that the generated selections look appropriate, and apply the design.
- Manually select any Buildings which should be of a different Function, and change their Function.
Notes
- It is only possible to create a single type of Function at a time when using parametric designs. If a greater variation is desired, parts of the result can either be edited, or removed so another parametric design can be applied in the same location.
